Henrico Pet Expo has things for all pets, animal lovers


HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A Henrico event this weekend will celebrate pets and pet lovers.

The Henrico Humane Society Pet Expo is back and a long-time volunteer. Vice President Melissa Golden says the exhibit is packed with stuff for pets and animal lovers.

“So we have puppy contests and races, demonstrations, music all kinds of things,” said Melissa Golden, vice president of the Henrico Humane Society. children can do all kinds of crafts.

Children will also have the chance to adopt a stuffed animal during the event.

The exhibition will also have a silent auction and a 50/50 draw.

“This is the first year we’ve run a 50/50 raffle and we have a thousand tickets, so if we sell all 1,000 tickets, that means the winner gets $5,000, just like the Henrico Humane Society,” Golden said. “And we rescue dogs and cats and all of our animals stay in foster homes until they’re adopted and as you said, we’re run entirely by volunteers,” Golden said.

CBS 6’s Greg McQuade is one of those volunteers and he will return as emcee for the 15th year.

The Henrico Humane Society Pet Show takes place Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex.
